               The  O  V  OUTSIDE
           Left  Side  of  the  House

Every side of the house had it's different little issues but on the overall the process was all the same.  This process is readily viewed on the webpage "The O V Outside Right side of the House"

I am going to go right into pictures on this page ....

This is looking down along the facia trimwork at a steep angle to show the gross amount of work that needed to be done to restore this woodwork.

And here is the same location wood filled and sander as well as being caulked.

This is a look at the carvings with the old paint scraped off prior to burning out the remaining paint.

With the burning and first sanding done, it is time to fill all of the splits and imperfections in the triangular panels.

Some of those imperfections include replacing missing sections as in the right side corner of this panel.

As well as the top of this triangle.

The edges of the triangles are also wood filled and then caulked so when the final quarter round moulding is added there will not be any gaps.

Everything is filled and sanded and a second coat of filler is added and resanded wherever needed.

After all is said and done, here are the final results with the tiny 3/8" wide quarter round moulding in gold and the four newly made shamrock panels in place.   As not to be overly repititious, please go to the web page titled "The O V Outside Right side of the House" for all of the detailed steps in the process and a much larger catalogue of pictures to go along with the process
that was used on all four of the gables.

Here is a picture of the Left set of windows on the left side of the house caulked but not filled yet.

Here is the right hand set of windows from the left side of the house caulked and filled.

Almost done .... needing some gold.

Second floor left side completed.

Second floor right side completed.

Between the rear of the house and the left side is an ell shaped side that only has a few windows that needed to be done.   Since these windows are now done here are the pictures.

Here they are primed.

Here they are finish painted.

The left side of the ELL.

The right side of the Ell.

Here are the first floor windows finished.  And by the way this is the last time
that you will be seeing the shed.

Finally ... Paint !  I started preping, patching and caulking from this rear corner of the house back in early May '07.  Now here it is mid October and it was all well worth the effort.  There is one coat of tinted oil primer and two coats of latex finish paint.  Historic colors by Benjamin Moore.

And now on to the front of the house, but still on this side, the front porch.

Some siding had to be added all along this roof line.

Even with a lot of shadowing you can still see what siding had to be added.

This will be all for this page.  Not many exciting changes on this side of the house.  The Front of the house is where to go from here.
