       OUTSIDE   PROJECTS
                At   The   O  V

Last year a tremendous amount of work was completed.

The paint was sanded off the outside of the house.

Some 22 windows were replaced and some were restored.

The front porch was finished.   This included the decking as well as the railings and drainage system under the porch.

The side and back doors were both  replaced.

9 second floor inside doors were also
replaced.

Inside trim molding was done on all
of the doors and windows.

The front doors were stripped and
rehung.

Carpeting was installed on the 2nd and 3rd floor hallways, as well as in
the 2nd and 3rd floor bedrooms.

Sooo ... as you may well imagine, we
ran out of nice weather to get the rest of the outside work done to make the house ready for paint.

This season we want to get an early start on the
outside projects.  The house will be painted before
the end of the summer.  I am going to let the color scheme be a surprise.  The original colors that were picked have since changes and the new choices of colors are absolutely fabulous.

And please do not get the wrong idea.   I absolutely do NOT do finish painting !!!
I will prime paint to make sure that my
plaster work is finished to the quality I
demand ... but that is where my painting
stops.   Although I will do finish staining.

Enough jibber jabber !!!  Lets get onto pictures.

HERE ARE THE OUTSIDE BEFORE PICTURES

This is a view of the left side of the house, the back corner.  The placement of the bucket truck was the first challenge.  With the
truck in place, the work will start here and move forward around
the house.  Any loose , rotten or missing pieces of siding and trim
will be replaced and all nail head divits will be filled.

Moving around the corner, you can see that it is a real good thing that I do not have any fear of heights.  The pieces that are missing at the peak have already been remade over the winter.

The front of the house has some siding to be added, a bracket to be replaced and a few other issues as you can see.  The bucket will not get me up to the peak so I will be constructing a platform on the lower angled roof to create a flat surface to place ladders on to get up to the higher peak.

The right side of the house needs some work at the peak as well as some siding replacement.  The side bay window has some issues as well as the side door portico.

And here is a view of the back of the house.  The peak here also has a
few repairs to be completed.  And thats it for the before pics as of now.  As I work on each section I will add more showing some progress.

AND NOW FOR A LITTLE PROGRESS  . . . . .

Here is the top half of the back left corner of the house ready for paint.

A little closer view.

And now I go around the corner.

Thats high !!!

That was as far as I could get so the bucket truck had to be moved.

With the bucket truck moved and the handy milk crate reloaded with shingles,
away I go.

Moving right along !   and thats where it's at for today.  And now here it is in the middle of June and a lot has happened since this picture was posted.   Outside projects will have to be broken down into smaller segments.   New pages are going to be added to the site.
"The Front of the House" ,  "The Side Gables"  and  "The Rear of the House" will basically be how the pages will be catagorized.

NOW it's Saturday, the 14th of July and I am building the web pages
starting from the rear of the house.  All of the gables and high work has been completed with the rental of a boom lift that will be referred to as "The New Toy".   So from here go to the webpage titled
"The  O  V  Outside Back of the House".   Thank you for your patience in waiting for my updated pages.   Please keep in mind the 28 day rental period produced an extrordinary amount of beautifully finished work that you are sure to enjoy viewing.   The big issue was the fact that work was the only thing that got done in those 28 days .... from dawn til dusk.   Updating the website was impossible.
