COMING SOON
THE  BACK  OF  THE  O V

The Back of the house has yet to be started but the gables will be started very soon since the boom lift has to be returned in 2 weeks time.   (June 23, 2007)

I am going to start updating my website from this page.  No Rhyme or reason as to why !

Maybe just because by the time I finished 3 other sides I pretty much knew what I was doing by the time I got around to the last side.   LOL

Right now it's July 14th and the boom lift was returned to the Rental  place
July 9th.   It took me this long to organize all of the pictures I took in the past month.  So here we go  .... for your enjoyment and learning .... the pictures.

After scraping the old paint and sanding it down some I first had to burn the old paint out of the spoon carvings before I filled in whatever was bumpy, had spaces or splits.

A little closer view.  After sanding the filler smooth, caulking was added to fill any unsightly spacing.

Then everything is prime painted with Benjamin Moore oil base primer.

Here is an arial view of the right side of the back of the house facia trim and the lower triangle filled and ready for primer.

Here is the finish paint on the facia trim and the lower right side triangle with the addition of newly made corner trim in blue.

Here is the right side finish painted.  A little more finessing has to be completed, including finalizing the triangle trim and the end of the facia needing to be replaced.   The third floor windows are painted as well.

Here is the left side triangle completed with the exception of the lower brackets needing primer and finish paint.

The right side triangle done and the facia trim repairs -completed.

Jumping backwards a little, here are the third floor rear windows filled and ready for primer.  Notice I still have some siding repairs to make somewhere along the way.

And here is a before & after shot all in one picture of the third floor windows.  Left filled - right primed.

The third floor windows with their first coat of finish color and with the addition of a new moulding that will be added to all of the outside windows as a decorative touch.

Here, the second color has been added but don't worry, they are not done yet.  One more color follows ....   But do notice how gorgeous the spoon carvings look detailed in dark blue !!!

I have to upload the finished window picture.   I never took one as of yet so I just noticed.

So hold your breathe for the FINAL Gable picture that follows ...

This is an arial picture of the rear gable with remade trimmed pieces in the
two center squares and still this is not the finale of pictures.  I have to get a copy of the last picture needed to fill this gallery .... the gold trim!

So .... just for now .... continue on to the next web page that I am working on.   "The  O  V  Outside  Front"    In fact I will be making a push to totally update this website.   That means the addition of three more pages.  "The New Toy" ,  The O V Outside Left Side of the House, as well as the right side of the house.

ENJOY   :)

The very last day of the rental, Sunday the 8th, I worked on the back of the house securing the siding and replacing some broken pieces.   I got down to about the center of the second story windows.   This was more than enough done, since the smaller bucket will reach the rest of what needs to be done.

You can see that the split shingles are filled and broken ones are replaced.

And here is another pic of the same area just a little closer.

Right after Sunday, I took a week off !  In the time I was gone some windows have been finished around the corner from this side on the ELL.
When I got back to work on Monday, the 16th, I started securing and filling the siding below this point and tore off the skirt to redo that few rows.

Ready for a new skirt.

Here is just a shot of the second floor rear left windows before scraping and filling.

Here is the rear right set of windows after being scraped, prior to filler.  You can see that the bottom two rows of shingles have been removed so ....

Work continues from here with replacing the siding that was removed.

Starting from the right rear corner and working back .....

some pieces were replace along the way.  All of the siding was nailed down
and filled where needed.  The windows were also caulked.

A straight edge was used to keep the spacing as even as possible taking into consideration the slight hump in the house.

Almost done.

and there we go .... done.   Remember what the roof on the back porch looks like.  Hint  .... it's about to change drastically.

Here are the rear right set of windows before filler.

Here they are filled.

And now primed.

Both sets of windows filled.

Both sets primed and all of the siding is patched at this point in time.   The finished painted window pictures will turn up someplace later.  For now I will move down to the first floor siding work.

Abig jump in between pictures here !  Both the 1st and 2nd floor windows are finish painted.  The siding is replaced and the porch roof has been reworked.

Here is the top half of the back of the house in tinted primer.  Also showing off the second floor windows.

And here is the rear of the house with a minimal amount of primer to be added.

The back porch all finished, including the railings.

A view from the opposite angle.  The cellar doors have been since sanded and primed.

And that is it for the back of the house for now.  The final picture will be the cellar doors painted and the plastic off the windows.  That pic hasn't been taken as of yet.   The next page to be completed will be the front of the house, followed by the right side of the house.
