This  is  quite  the  interesting  BATHROOM This Project includes thinking outside the box.

A challenge is the kind of tile job that I live for.

Adding artistic style always makes for a fun project.

Inlays are my favorite form of expression.

Give me a theme and let's go from there.

This one is a theme to include fish, the beach and a bright
lively setting for four girls.   MINE   ! ! !   Yes I have four
daughters as well as a grand daughter and one grandson.

I lived on St. Thomas for five years, so my now 21 year old daughter was born there.   Thus the brite sunny setting.

First, not so sunny looking as of yet, the room had to be gutted and insulated, replumbed and rewired.

I installed a new diverter and trip lever waste drain.

With the brand new plumbing installed, cement board was installed.

Nothing is ever easy.  The plumbing stack pertruded just a little too far out.

But that's what I do.  I can fix anything.

Plaster filling was added, after a plastic barrier was put over the metal pipe to assure no rust bleeding through the grout over time.   Always thinking ahead.

A new window wall of cement board.

Reframed window opening, plaster filled gaps, followed by taping the joints and then it's ready for tile.

Moving right along.

Several more coats of plaster were added to feather out the wall and ceiling to finally cover the hub of the plumbing vent stack.

And of course there is no need to wait to start the tile.  Each day some plaster feathering was done and tile worked it's way up the wall.

You can notive my markings on the walls for level and center.

Keep in mind ... 4 girls .... LOT's of bottles of shampoo etc.

And around the room I go .....  4 girls remember  so ....  Toilet out to tile, Toilet in at night,  Toilet out to grout,
Toilet back in at night ..... and on and on and on.

and further down the wall I go .....  I did the floor before the wall tile of course.

Three corner shelves that I curve cut and polished by hand.  Custom marble window sill was added pitched so
the water would run into the tub rather than out into the room or back to the window itself.

Here is the window trim tiled.  The top row of wall tile is not in as of yet since the ceiling needs to be tiled first.
Oh yes hold on to your keyboard .... here comes the ceiling pictures.

But let me first mention that the shower rod height had to be set prior to tiling the ceiling.
I'm such a tease.

Ahhh  NOTHING like the look of a nice inlay.

I've done some more intricate inlays in floors and walls as well.  I will have to scan some old pics into the computer.  Work I have done before I owned a digital camera.

There was no other reason to add the inlay in the ceiling except just to do it.  Always thinking outside the realms of given parameters.  The only limits are those limits that we impose upon ourselves.  This is an expression of art for me.  All I can say is the girls loved all of the shelves.

It has been 7 years since I first started the bathroom and I just took these finished pictures tonight 3/17/07 so the shower curtain has been since changed.

SEE !!!  3shelves was not a bad idea.

Such a good idea, I'm glad I put 3 on both sides of the shower !

It all comes together with the addition of the decor trim pieces.

I have to say it still looks good after all of these years.

I like the way the girls decorated the room.  They did pick the tile and paint colors.

The brown wood radiator cover will soon be a Blue metallic flake 1 1/4" thick
Blue Granite piece of stone.   Absolutely gorgeous looking.  All I still have to do is to polish the front edge.   The stone is cut to fit already.

oops, I knocked off the towel bar.   I'll fix it tomorrow.

And thus another project.
